500 Kalamath - Phase 2

Following our adaptive re-use and renovation of their new headquarters at the corner of 5th and Kalamath near Denver’s Santa Fe Arts district, Cornerstone Apartment Services engaged Points West to design a complimentary addition to double the footprint of the new office. The design of this single story addition creates a new streetscape for a formerly forgotten corner in Denver while providing a study in contrast with the original building.

By reversing the color palette and approaching the design with quiet restraint, the new addition doesn’t overpower the original building, which will continue to serve as the facility’s front door. Clean details and understated elegance at a human scale allow this addition to be a confident and timeless addition, while adding variation and new life to the streetscape. The new addition also continues to provide common sense sustainability benefiting occupant comfort and building energy performance exceeding Denver’s stringent energy codes by 15% thanks to a well insulted envelope, natural daylighting, and all electric building systems.
